A Voice for Fairness. A Passion for Justice.

Sarra Terry grew up in Millvale, PA, where she learned firsthand the power of resilience, community, and hard work. She saw how a strong support system and access to opportunity could change lives—and how the absence of those things could create barriers that felt impossible to overcome. Those early lessons shaped her career and fueled her passion for justice.

As both a defense attorney and a judicial law clerk, Sarra has worked on the front lines of the legal system, fighting for individuals and families in crisis. She believes that justice isn’t just about punishment—it’s about fairness, accountability, and ensuring that the courtroom serves as a place for transformation, not just judgment.

  • Advocating for trauma-informed practices across all court divisions.
  • Breaking generational cycles of criminal court involvement with career training programs.

Where did Sarra go to law school?

Sarra earned her Juris Doctor Degree from the Duquesne University Thomas P. Kline School of Law.

Like many other talented professionals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, she attended the evening program. This allowed her to work a full-time job during the day, a financial necessity.

Today, Sarra maintains the same grit that was required to graduate from Duquesne Law while also earning a living.

Rooted in Family. Focused on the Future.

Sarra is a proud wife and mother, raising her family in Ross Township. Her experiences as a parent fuel her commitment to making Allegheny County a safer, stronger place for future generations. Whether attending school events or cheering from the sidelines, Sarra knows firsthand how important it is to support families and build communities.

Sarra believes that breaking harmful cycles—whether in the justice system, in families, or in communities—requires intention, compassion, and action. She has spent her career advocating for second chances, ensuring that individuals and families have access to the resources they need to heal and move forward. Whether it’s guiding young people away from the juvenile justice system, supporting career training programs to break the cycle of poverty, or championing trauma-informed practices in court, Sarra has always worked to create pathways to brighter futures.

She carries this same dedication into her own home and community—showing up for school events, cheering from the sidelines, and reinforcing the values of fairness, resilience, and opportunity for the next generation. Now, she’s ready to continue this work from the bench, ensuring that the Court of Common Pleas serves as a place of justice, accountability, and hope—so that every family has the chance to build a stronger future.
